Hotel Information Update

If you have not made a hotel reservation for the Q Conference in Hamilton, Ontario, please be advised that the convention deadline for registration has been extended to September 8. The special rate for rooms is $129 per night - the rate will be substantially higher after September 8. To make your reservation, you can go to the Sheraton Hotel website, or by calling the hotel (direct line: 905-529-5515; toll-free number: 800-514-7101) or by faxing: 905-529-8226.

Remember, too, that your conference registration fee is due by September 24th, and after that day the fees will increase. Registrations after Sept. 24 should be made at the convention registration desk.

Registration for the Conference

Registration for the conference begins June 1st, 2008. Information concerning conference registration fees, additional costs, and a copy of the registration form can be found on the Registration Page.

Saturday Day Trip to Niagara Falls

As an optional day trip, guests are invited to participate in an organized tour of Niagara Falls on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 1:30 pm, departing from the Sheraton Hotel. Participants who are interested will have a private bus and licensed Niagara Park guide to provide a tour of one Canada’s biggest attractions. The guests will also receive a tour of the Jackson Triggs Winery and enjoy wine tasting at the world famous Niagara-on-the-Lake. The cost of the tour will be $58 per person (including 5% GST). All payments can be made in addition to conference registration fees. Additionally, once at the Falls, those who are interested can participate in a walking tour under the falls, and the cost will be an extra $10. The Maid of the Mist boat ride under the falls (rain gear provided) will be an extra $12. Guests will be taken back to Hamilton at 6:30 pm.

Announcement about the Stephenson Award and Abstract Call for ISSSS


The International Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity (ISSSS) established the Stephenson Award to promote Q studies internationally and recognize the authors who demonstrate exceptional achievement in their Q studies. Q-methodology was originated in 1935 by British physicist-psychologist William Stephenson. This award will be granted to one or multiple authors at the ISSSS conference this year, October 2 - 4, in Hamilton, Canada.

The Stephenson Award will be made for the first time in 2008. The award, worth $1000, recognizes outstanding scholarship. The recipient(s) of the Award will be determined by a committee established for this purpose by the Executive Officers of the International Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity (ISSSS). The Award recipient(s) will be announced at the Annual Conference of the ISSSS. The recipient(s)' paper will be published in Operant Subjectivity, the official journal for the ISSSS.

To present a paper at the conference, you need to send an abstract to Program Chair Akhtar-Danesh by June 30, 2008. You may send an abstract by June 30 and the complete manuscript by Aug. 4 to be considered for the award.
